NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token. To put it simply NFT's allows you to distribute your digital artwork in the crypto space. NFT's can include anything that constitutes digital art like photographic images, 3D animations, pixel art and so on. Crypto has given artists the capability to sell their artwork through NFT's and I will show you how you can sell your first digital art.
I'll be using Hic et Nunc built on the Tezos blockchain because it's simple and cheap. Here are the things that you will need to get you started:
You will need a Coinbase account to buy Tezos. So if you haven't opened an account before click here to open one and purchase your Tezos coin. I would recommend $10 to get you started.
Then you will need to create a Kukai wallet and click here for the instructions.
Once you have opened your account, you will be given a unique address where you will send your Tezos from your Coinbase account.
SENDING YOUR TEZOS FROM COINBASE TO YOUR KUKAI WALLET
Copy the long unique address from your Kukai Wallet and locate your Tezos within your portfolio in your Coinbase Account. Paste the address and select the amount your want to transfer to your Kukai Wallet.
Once you have clicked continue and confirmed the transaction it should take a minute or so for your Kukai Wallet to be updated with the new balance.
After you have received your Tezos in your Kukai Wallet then you are ready to mint your first NFT on hic et nunc.
SYNCING YOUR HIC ET NUNC TO YOUR KUKAI WALLET
Go to hic et nunc and click SYNC on the top right of the page and select Kukai and this should open your Kukai wallet on a separate tab on your web browser. You will need to approve the connection and after this, you have successfully connected your hic et nunc account to your Kukai wallet.
MINTING YOUR NFT
Once your wallet address is shown on the top right corner of hic et nunc, you are ready to mint your first NFT! Minting your NFT is a key process to make your digital art become part of the blockchain. Similar to the way that metal coins are minted and added into circulation instead your are adding your minted digital art to the tezos blockchain.
Select OBJKTS from the top-right menu bar and you will be directed to the image below
Complete the required fields and upload your artwork. You can preview and edit it before the minting process.
Currently minting your artwork costs 0.08 Tezos which is why you need to connect your Kukai wallet. You will use your Kukai wallet to pay for the transaction fees. You will need to approve the transaction on your Kukai Wallet before it can be finalised. There will be transaction fees for minting and putting your digital art for sale but I found hic et nunc to be to cheapest so far.
SELLING YOUR NFT
After you have successfully minted your NFT, you can go to the menu page on the top right corner of the page and select Manage Assets and there you will find your first NFT under your collections.
Select your NFT and click SWAP and enter the quantity you want to sell and choose the amount of Tezos you want to sell it for.
I chose 1 unit at the cost of 5 Tezos. But the quantity available and amount in Tezos is completely up to you.
You will know when you have sold your first NFT by looking at the number of editions available and checking the collector's tab. Your buyer's unique address will be shown under there and you can also earn a commission if they resell your digital art. Any Tezos that you have earned from selling your NFT will automatically go into your Kukai Wallet.
FINALLY, HAVE FUN!
Good luck with selling your NFT, collecting NFT's and just have fun with the process. I hope you found this useful!
